Marriage is Not a Fairy Tale(B).by Jewell R. Powell
Change Your Marriage by Changing Your Expectations
Lewis and I dated for four years before we got married, and I knew
without a shadow of doubt that my marriage was ordained by God. When we
went through the storm, I still knew in my heart that Lewis was the man
for me, but the devil kept whispering, "You can do better. You don't
have to take this." I thought, "I was all right before I met him, and I
will be all right when he is gone." My thoughts were stupid. I couldn't
do better because I had the best man for me. We all want the fairy-tale
marriage, which is having a perfect man (or woman) without flaws and a
perfect life without challenges. That is not reality. Although Lewis is
not perfect, he is the perfect person for me. And I am not perfect
either. I may be a perfectionist, but I am not perfect. I hope you can
face that truth about yourself as well, and say it out loud: "I, [fill
in your name], am not perfect and neither is [fill in your spouse's
name]." Good! Hopefully, confessing it will be a start to a "happily
ever after" marriage.

Praying for your husband
As a wife, you have been given the privilege of serving as a mighty
prayer warrior for your husband. Yet sometimes, even when poised with
the best of intentions, the task can feel overwhelming. You wonder: What
should I pray? How should I pray? What prayers does he need right now?
“tell your mate the positive, and tell God the negative.” Take your concerns to God. Faithfully lift up your husband in prayer every day, and you will likely notice a transformation not only in him, but in yourself, as well.

Marriage is not a fairly tale.
Marriage is Not a Fairy Tale.(A) by Jewell R. Powell.
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things. 1 Timothy 4:7-8
As I was growing up, I read all the fairy-tale stories like Sleeping Beauty, hoping to one day meet my prince and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, most fairy tales give us an unrealistic picture of what our life with the prince will be like. Cinderella met her prince at a ball, and then he came looking for her with a glass slipper.

Prayer
Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where
pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is
the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming
dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian.
Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of
touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus our Lord.
The Bible speaks much of prayer. But, sometimes, too often, we ignore prayer and seek to accomplish in the strength of our own wills those things that we desire to have or happen. For those of us who are too often guilty of this, we need to bow our knees, confess our sin, receive God's forgiveness, and beg that the will of the Lord be done above our own. God is sovereign and loving, and He knows what is best for us and others even if it doesn't always seem to make the most sense
I suppose that we can test our prayer life and dependence upon God by the peace or lack of peace in our hearts. In all things we are to seek the Lord and in His continued presence. Peace will surely be our gain.
